Hare İstanbul — since 1972

Three crafts, one roof.

Work in our atelier moves across three benches; a piece passes through three masters’ hands before it reaches the case. This page is the short story of that journey.

  1. The first bench

    1972

    The first bench

One bench, one master in Nuruosmaniye: moulds opened by hand, sales kept in a ledger.

  2. The mould archive

    1986

    The mould archive

The mould of every form is kept from now on; the archive now holds over four hundred. The Heritage collection is worked from it.

  3. The second generation

    2003

    The second generation

Setting and polishing get their own benches; three crafts, each with its own master, under one roof.

  4. The same address

    Today

    The same address

Stones arrive certified; wedding bands still leave after two fittings. The door is the same door.

The benches

One piece, three decisions.

  • 01

    The goldsmith

Builds the form: casting, wire-drawing, assembly. The skeleton of the piece leaves this bench.

  • 02

    The setter

Seats the stone: opening the seat, raising the prongs, checking under the microscope. The stone holds, the light does not leak.

  • 03

    The polisher

Opens the light: abrasive, felt, burnish. Every texture between matte and mirror is this bench’s decision.

On appointed visits you can watch the work in progress and discuss a commission with the master directly.
